I started Yugen Films because most brand video feels like an ad -- because it is. It exists to be skipped. It has no soul, no story arc, no reason to be remembered.
I came to this work through a different door: years spent inside Noh theatre -- Japan's oldest dramatic form -- where the goal is never to explain, but to evoke. Where silence carries more weight than dialogue. Where the mask reveals more than the face.

Why a subscription instead of per-project?
Per-project work means constant re-briefing, re-negotiating, and gaps between content. A subscription keeps the story running. Your brand builds a library of narrative films over time, not a one-off.
How long is each film?
Under 60 seconds. This is intentional -- the constraint forces better storytelling. Every second must earn its place. Shorter films also perform better on every major platform.
What kinds of stories can I request?
Brand origin stories, product narratives, cultural or conceptual pieces, vertical series episodes, trend-reactive content, founder stories. If it has a narrative arc, it's in scope. Ads, explainers, and talking-head content are not.
Can I pause?
Yes. Pause anytime and your billing pauses with it. Resume when you're ready. No penalty, no questions.
